WARD, THELMA "EILEEN" - Thelma ?Eileen? Ward, 105, Riverview, NB, a delightful lady who was greatly loved by her family, friends and caregivers died on November 26, 2013 in Monarch Hall, Riverview, NB, after living a full and happy life. Born in Springhill, NS on October 20, 1908 to Alfred and Carrie Langille; in her youth Eileen spent many happy hours developing her lifelong skills in dancing and skating, memories which brought her pleasure throughout her entire life. Eileen lived for many years in Massachusetts, then spent over twenty happy years as a ?snowbird?, alternating between Halifax, NS and Clearwater, FL where she and her husband, Thomas Ward, were known for their grace on a dance floor and warmth as hosts to frequent dinner parties. In later years they moved to Riverview to be nearer to Tom?s family. Eileen was predeceased by her parents, a brother in infancy; her sister, Evelyn Leadbetter; her first husband, Winslow Pollock; second husband, Thomas Ward. She is survived by her niece, Doreen Scott (Ronald); stepson, Gary Ward (Myrna); their children and grandchildren, all of whom will miss her cheerful attitude and welcoming smiles as well as the entertaining stories of her many life experiences. She is also survived by a cousin, Merle Stonehouse.
Arrangements are in the care of MacDiarmid?s Funeral Home, Oxford, NS (902-447-2930). In accordance with Eileen?s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Millvale, NS. The family wishes to extend its thanks to the dedicated, compassionate caregivers of Monarch Hall, whose kindnesses to Eileen will be long remembered with gratitude.
