JANET STEVENS HART

(nee Nelson)

1908 - 2010

Mum passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2010. She was predeceased by her beloved husbands, Martin Stevens and Robert Hart, by her only son Douglas Stevens, and by her brother Bill Nelson.

Until her journey's end Janet enjoyed life with her many interests. She was a long-standing active member and elder of Knox Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. She was committed to her work as a Social Worker at Family and Children's Services, and most important of all, were her family and friends. Janet's two husbands were well known in the Canadian mining industry, especially in the early days of the Elliot Lake uranium camp, and Martin played an important role in developing the student/employer relationship in the co-operative engineering program at the University of Waterloo.

She was the dear mother and mother-in-law of Nancy Stevens (Douglas), Margaret (David Wilson) and Pat (Bob Ballantyne). Loving grandmother of Doug and Nancy's children Kristen, Scott and Jana; of Margaret and Dave's children Alexandra, Steven and Carroll and of Pat and Bob's girls Heather and Maggie. She will be fondly remembered by her 8 great grandchildren and her dear friend Ludmila Sokolova. Janet was fortunate to be very loved by her step-children Susan Hart Rae, Jane Hart Rivest and Bob Hart Jr. She was a special aunt to John Nelson and Peter and Sharon Nelson.

Janet spent the last few years at Lanark Heights Long Term Care Facility where she enjoyed new friends, all the caring staff and nurses and loved to continue to entertain her friends and family on every special occasion.

Cremation has taken place as she wished and the family will have a memorial service later with burial in Burnbrae Cemetery, Campbellford ON.

As an expression of a celebration of her life please consider a donation to Knox Presbyterian Church, Waterloo which can be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com.
