MEUNIER, Pierre MD, FRCS

1910 - 2013

Dr. Pierre Meunier, husband of the late Lucile Lamoureux, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2013 in Montreal at the age of 103, after an exemplary life.

Emeritus Surgeon, Chief of Gynaecology at Hôtel-Dieu Hospital for many years, Professor of Gynaecology at the University of Montreal, author of several books and medical articles, Pierre Meunier was a reputable physician with a passionate interest in history. After retirement at the age of 75, he published a book on the Patriot uprising in 1837, another on the History of Surgery at the Hôtel-Dieu, as well as biographies of passed doctors at the Hôtel-Dieu.

His son Jean Meunier and his wife Natalie Gruer.

Isabelle Saint?Georges, wife of his son the late Robert Meunier.

His grandchildren Adrienne, Emilie and Philippe.

His great-granddaughter Louise, and his nieces and nephews : Pierrette, Monique, Lise, Raymonde, Claudette, Jean -Luc, Réal and Denise.

Invite you to honour his memory on Sunday, October 20, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00.

A religious ceremony will take place on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., preceded by a final goodbye as of 9:00 a.m. at

He will be laid to rest in the cemetery of his hometown, St-Charles-sur-Richelieu, the same day (October 21), following a short church ceremony at 4:00 p.m.

He also leaves to mourn his dear friends Hélène and Jean- Paul Bossé, Lorraine Ladouceur, Suzanne Labelle and Jean-Yves Lavoie, Murielle Matteau and Daniel Ladouceur.

The family offers a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Benta Batista, Mrs. Cecile Bolduc, Mrs. Bernadette Morissette, Mrs. Pilar Acosta and Mrs. Virginia Veliz who accompanied him with so much loving care during his last years.

We also express our deep gratitude to the staff of the Montreal Jewish Eldercare Centre for their tender care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Fondation du CHUM or that of the Montreal Jewish Eldercare Centre would be appreciated.
