Eleanor Lowe, who taught art for decades at Prince of Wales College, died Wednesday at the age of 107.

Lowe taught art at Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown from 1921 to 1965, and after her retirement she continued to be involved in the arts, launching the Art to Schools Program at the Confederation Centre in 1967.

She continued to paint into her 90s, and was also active in photography. She is listed as one of the early members of the P.E.I. Photo Club.

Lowe was born July 27, 1901. The provincial government could not determine if she was the oldest living Islander.

A memorial service is being planned to remember her contributions to the artistic community.
