Raymond (Ray) P. Groundwater 74, of Indian Mountain, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, February 17, 2008. Born in Lutes Mountain, he was the son of the late Earlie and Winnifred (Stiles) Groundwater. Ray was retired as Production Manager at Moncton Crushed Stone (Division of Modern Enterprises) with 43 years service; charter member of Hillside Baptist Church, former member of the Church Board of Directors and former member of the New Brunswick Road Builders Association. He enjoyed hockey, his favorite team The Montreal Canadiens as well as the AHL Moncton teams. Family was his ultimate pride and joy and meant all the world to him. His hobbies included farming, his horses, cows and rebuilding his antique tractors. Ray will be sadly missed by his wife of over 51 years, Elena (Maxwell) Groundwater; sons, Ronald (Susan), Amherst, NS, Ralph (Karen) Colpitts Settlement, Jeff (Julie), Moncton, Michael (Janice), Lutes Mountain, Darren (Jo-Anne), Saint John; grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda), Jessie, Chelsea, Jesse, Cody, Matthew, Sarah, Reid, Kenady and Braydon; sisters, Neta Lounsbury, Fredericton, Lila Kelly, Moncton; brother, Gordon (Barbara), Moncton, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, predeceased by brothers Alfred and Cecil; and one sister, Helen. No visitation by personal request. Funeral service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Wednesday, February 20, 2008, 1:30 pm, Rev. Gordon Horsman officiating. Reception following the service. Interment, Stilesville Cemetery.
