Death of an Old Resident. Mrs. James Burnside passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oliver Barton, on Friday, February 5th, after a long and trying illness of two years. At times she was able to be around and interested in her home, but after having gone with her husband to spend Christmas with their daughter, Mrs. Burnside took ill and despite all that medical skill and nursing could do she grew weaker and passed away.

Deceased was born in Madoc in 1856, and forty years ago came to St. Joseph Island with her husband James Burnside and resided on thir farm until they moved to Richards Landing about 20 years ago.

Mrs. Burnside was a good neighbour and had many friends who will miss her. She was a loving mother and wife and will be greatly missed in her home. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, two daughters Mrs. Charles Maguire (Hattie) and Mrs. Oliver Barton (Frankie) of St. Joseph Island, and six sons living - William, Ernest, Emo, Maurice od St. Joe, Fred of the American Soo, Roy of Illinois, and to these we extend deepest sympathy. One son, Robert of Windsor, died in 1930.

The funeral service was held Saturday at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Oliver Barton and was largely attanded. Rev. Howey conducted the service and gave a most impressive and inspiring message. Interment took place at Richards Landing cemetery. The pall bearers were Messrs. Albert Green, John Coulter, W.G. Martiin, Thomas Barton, Robert Armstrong, and John Rousseau.
