MARION SYLVIA BURK (BROWNE) With great sadness we announce the passing of our dear and cherished sister, aunt, greataunt, great-great-auntie, cousin and wonderful friend, who passed away on November 20th, 2009, at Wentworth Manor, Calgary at the age of 99. 'Marian' is sur vived by her loving sister Barbara McKennitt of Toronto, her brother-in-law Clare Godfrey of Hanover, nieces Betty Galbraith, Marge (Budd) Harron - of Owen Sound, Louise (Rudy) Wozny of Calgary, Julie Byers (Dave Lichty) of Hanover, nephews Ian (Lynda) Rutherford of Port Elgin, Richard (Heather Howes) McKennitt, Don (Kathy) McKennitt, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and many children and grandchildren of her nieces and nephews. Born in Owen Sound, Ontario in 1910, Marion graduated from high school at the age of 17 and began work in Toronto. She married Bill Burk in 1932 and lived in Etobicoke until her 93rd year when she moved to Calgary. Her compassion, interest and sensitivity touched the lives of many and her tenacity and wit were admired by all who knew her. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed. Marion is predeceased by her parents Amy Louise nee Benner and Randall Switzer Browne, husband T. J. 'Bill' Burk, brother Donald Browne, and sisters Aileen Browne and Frances Godfrey. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane subway from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Fr iday, November 27, 2009, with Funeral Ser vice to follow in the chapel at 1 p.m. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery. For those who wish memorial donations in Marion's memory may be made to the Salvation Army.
