Death of John Werley
"Thursday moning of last week John Werley, one of the old-timers of the Slocan, passed on at the Kootenay Lake General Hospital, Nelson, where he had been taken a week previously for treatment. Deceased was born in 1850 in Cornwall, Ont. He came west when quite a young man, and for a number of years worked in the mines of Nevada and California, where he married. In 1893 he and his wife came to New Denver and have since lived here. His wife predeceased him a few months ago, and he took the separation so hard that it doubtless hastened his death." - Leaser.
