Title: Obituary of John Ward

Obituary of John WardHarcourt, Aug.24 - The death of John Ward, of Harley Road, a short distance from Harcourt, occurred on Saturday evening last. Mr. Ward, who was about eighty-four years old, was in his usual health until about a week before his death, when a serious heart trouble developed suddenly which his advanced age made him unable to combat.

He came to Harley Road when this section was a complete wilderness and lived to see the growth of many fine farms from what was once a forest of noble trees. He was a man of sterling qualities, very kindly in his hospitality and public-spirited in his attitude towards the community. He was a Liberal in politics and a Presbyterian in his church relations. His wife died several years ago. He leaves behind him a number of worthy sons and daughters. the burial took place in the Presbyterian cemetery, Harcourt, Rev. B.H. Penwarden officiating.
