ARNOLD, Christina (nee Keith)

October 25 1909 - May 14th 2009

On a beautiful spring day in her 100th year, our Mother and Grandma began another journey after a life rich with adventure. Her daughter, Pat McBirnie was with her, and they were surrounded by the love of family and caregivers at Christie Gardens.

With her much loved husband, Dr. Clifford Arnold (predeceased), she shared an extraordinarily full and colourful life and medical practice in Haileybury. Twice named citizen of the year, she also worked for the Victorian Order of Nurses for a decade. Tina's sister Margaret and brothers Haddow and Bill Keith led the way by choosing challenging paths in medicine and social work.

Mother was a North Toronto girl who graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Nursing Science but began her real education in the North in Kakabecka Falls, Dryden, Temagami, and Haileybury. As a child in 1913, Tina first climbed into a canoe at Bear Island in Temagami for a six week family canoe trip that launched her life long love of the North.

Grandma Tina encouraged, loved and laughed with Gillian, Matthew and Andrew Corless who learned to appreciate Canada's North and the importance of a good wood stove 'down round suppertime'.

Great Grandma, Grammie, Mom and Friend you are in our hearts and exceedingly missed by us.

Pat, children, family and friends.

A Celebration of Tina's life will be held on Thursday, May 21st at 1:30 p.m. at Lawrence Park Community Church (2180 Bayview at Lawrence).
